We train our soldiers to go to war, we don't train them to come home

Tier One Tranquility Base (TOTB) was founded in 2010 to help mitigate Veteran suicide. As of 2019, over 7,000 soldiers have died in combat since 9/11. A staggering 160,000 Veterans have taken their own lives in that exact same time frame.

The TOTB program was developed by Veterans for Veterans and uses evidenced-based methods to address PTSD, issues surrounding TBI, and most importantly, the impacts of the moral wounds of war.

About Veteran Suicide

According to the Veterans Health Administration:

  • 22 Veterans commit suicide every day.
  • Veterans are 50% more likely to kill themselves than those who have not served.
  • Veterans consist of 13.5% of all deaths by suicide in US adults but only make up 7.9% of the US adult population.

However, in 2015 (most recent year data is available), more than 70% of veteran suicides occurred outside VA care, meaning their deaths were not included in the numbers above.
